ePortfolio

the purpose of the assignment – to demonstrate learning, not website creation skills

As a classroom teacher, I looked forward to reviewing the portfolios my students created; it was exciting (and rewarding) to see the growth my students made over the course of a semester.

This year I had my students create websites using Google Sites.  If you have not had the opportunity to check out this program, I highly recommend you do.  It is a simple, straightforward program that lets users create websites within a very short amount of time.  The options, themes, and layouts are engaging to students but not so overwhelming as to detract from the purpose of the assignment – to demonstrate learning, not website creation skills.

Combined with video recording software (I used Loom), my students were able to create some spectacular ePortfolios.  This is a project I look forward to doing again in future courses and I invite you to do the same. I promise that you will be very pleased with the result!

Here is a great video from Teachers.Tech to get you started using Google Sites.
